Monarch Butterfly Presentations
Monarch Butterfly Presentations in Schools
Description Students learn about the life cycle by observing monarch eggs and pupae, holding larvae and feeding adults. I explain the relationship between butterflies and plants and bring in several varieties of milkweed. I explain the fall and spring migrations and students watch video clips of the over wintering colonies in Mexico. We tag several monarchs indoors then go outside to release them at the end of each session.
Classroom Sessions I present up to 4 one-hour sessions per day. One classroom per session is best though teachers may double up classrooms if necessary (about 50 students.)
Time of Year September, October, April, May.
