Wisconsin Salamander Survey

Wisconsin Salamander Survey

The Wisconsin Audubon Council, Inc., a coalition of 15 state Audubon chapters and two Audubon centers, is coordinating a formal statewide salamander survey funded by the Citizen-monitoring Partnership Program of the WI DNR.

We need citizen monitors to place live traps in potential wetland breeding habitats in late March and early April 2008 to determine the presence or absence of salamanders. We especially encourage young families, children and parents, to become volunteer monitors.
Several Audubon chapters throughout the state will host training workshops for participants in fall 2007 and early 2008.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer monitor please contact Randy Korb, Project Coordinator, rkorbbio@aol.com.
